About the event

This webinar will explore the role of cross-border paradiplomacy in fostering regional integration within Africa, focusing on four key regional blocs: the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the East African Community (EAC), Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). The event will draw on existing projects and research, offering insights from our panel speakers. This includes Dr Nganje's work on cross-border paradiplomacy in the SADC region, Dr Bashi's project on informal cross-border trade in the COMESA region; Ms Sego’s project on the protection of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and cross border cooperation at the East African Community level (i.e. the Great Lakes Region), and finally, Dr Omiunu and Dr Aniyie’s project on ontransboundary water resource management in the Lake Chad Basin.
